Norman Roy Ellis, 61, of Overland Park, KS passed away April 25, 2023 at Overland Park Center for Rehab and Nursing.
Roy was born August 5, 1961 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Norman Ellis and Sylvia (Stewart) Ellis. He moved in his youth to Baldwin City where he grew up and attended school. He went on to receive his Diesel Mechanic Degree from North central Kansas Technical College, Beloit, KS.
Roy was a long haul truck driver for most of his professional life working for Sutton Trucking in Archie, MO, retiring in 2008.
Roy was an avid outdoorsman in his younger years. He loved to hunt and regularly wanted to fish. He had his grandmother’s green thumb and was always out working to maintain the garden and have it looking beautiful. He also was a motorcycle enthusiast in his youth and was very proud of his Firebird he drove in high school. He was an avid Kansas City Royals baseball, Kansas City Chiefs football, and Kansas University basketball fan. He rarely missed a game when it was televised. He was also dedicated to his Friday evening Professional Wrestling. You knew on a Friday night he was up watching every week.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Ellis and grandparents John and Catherine Stewart.
Norman is survived by his mother Sylvia Ellis, Baldwin City, KS; two daughters, Catherine Hodges, Katy, TX, Ashley Ellis, Harrisonville, MO; brother, Greg Ellis, Overland Park, KS; sister, Carmen Masrud and her husband, David, Baldwin City, KS; and four grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2023 at Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin City, KS. The family will meet with friends at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Baldwin City from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday prior to the service. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter or Diabetes Education Center sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
