Patti Stepp Gillett Obituary

Patti Lynn Stepp Gillett, 57, of Ottawa, KS passed away March 27, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born January 17, 1966 as Patti Lynn Bly, in Independence, MO. the daughter of Jay and Linda Bly. 

She attended Park Hill High School in Parkville, Mo graduating with the class of 1984. She furthered her education as a 1991 graduate of U.M.K.C. with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.

Patti was married three times in her life.  She married John Frank in 1986.  They were later in life reunited as partners in 2015.

From her marriage to Dan Stepp, two sons, Connor and Alex were born on February 21, 1997.From her marriage to Denney Gillett, her son, Paul was born on April 29, 2005 and her daughter, Kathy was born November 29, 2007.

Patti worked in banking for ten years before she had children.  She was a Bookkeeper, Teller, Loan Secretary, Lending Officer and Branch manager.  She was very blessed to be a stay at home mom most of her children’s lives.

Patti’s true love was always her children, family, and sports.  She enjoyed donating her time to coach youth sports for her children.  She was a volunteer youth coach for eighteen years.  During that time she coached over thirty teams in baseball, softball, basketball and soccer.

Patti ended her working career with U.S.D. 290 where she was a Substitute teacher and then the Bookkeeper.  Her favorite sub job was for P.E.  The Bookkeeping job was a perfect fit for her so she could work in finance and still spend time with the kids at the school.

Patti was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Bly; her aunt, Kathy Perkins; and her brother, John Bly, Jr.

She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her four children, Connor Stepp and his fiancé, Raquelle Martinez, Alex Stepp and his fiancé, Tarah Shane, Paul Gillett, Kathy Gillett; her father, Jay Bly and his wife, Susan Bly; her sisters, Tammi Walker and her husband, Josh, Lorri Cotter; six nieces; four nephews; nine great nieces and nephews as well as her aunts, uncles and many cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2023 at Grace Community Fellowship, 501 S. Poplar, Ottawa, KS.  The family will greet friends for a visitation, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday April 2, 2023 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa, KS.  Memorial contributions may be made to Paul and Kathy Gillett Education Fund sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
