Paul Allen Jones, 87, of Ottawa, KS died Tuesday, June 1, 2021 in Ottawa.
He was born February 10, 1934 in Pomona, KS the son of Deck I. Jones and Mary (Coppes) Jones. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident graduating from Ottawa High School in 1952.
Paul served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.
In 1958 Paul began his career as an Iron worker for the Ironworkers Union #10 of Kansas City, MO, working for over thirty years until his retirement. During his career he was a part of many projects in the Kansas City area and all over the country.
Paul spent a great deal of his free time as a pilot. He spent hours working and building experimental aircraft over the years. He was a very skillful craftsman who could build or fix anything. He was always quick to come to the aide of his kids over the years to fix something in the house or work on a car. He loved camping over the years and truly enjoyed traveling throughout the Southwest.
On September 2, 1955 Paul was united in marriage to Joyce L. Dodds at Ottawa. They shared sixty-five years of love and devotion.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Jones, Ottawa, KS; two daughters, Teresa Bartak and her husband, Paul, Overland Park, KS, Sandra Connor, Topeka, KS; two sons, Casey Jones and his wife, Kathy, Princeton, KS, Justin Jones and his wife, Christy, Ottawa, KS; fifteen grandchildren including, Sadie Derstein and her husband, Rodney, Minneola, KS and Dustin Davis, Topeka, KS; as well as twenty-five great grandchildren.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Melissa Jones Davis, Cynthia Jones Guyett; a son, David W. Jones; two brothers, Don Jones, Ralph Jones; and a sister, Betty White.
