Ralph Owen Wilson "JR", Pomona died Sunday July 17, 2022 at Advent Health Ottawa, Kansas. He was 73.
JR was born on June 10, 1949 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of Ralph and Amy Wilson. He was a lifelong resident of Franklin county, and a member of the Ottawa Seventh Day Adventist Church. He attended Ottawa High School
and Neosho County Community College.
JR was united in marriage to Velda "Jane" Leach Green, September 1, 1989 in Ottawa, Kansas. JR had 5 children and Jane had 6. This union brought the family together totalling 11 children, and he loved all of them as his own.
JR was a man of many talents. He was a former security guard for Wolfcreek. He worked with his dad as a plumber for Wilson and Son Plumbing for many years. He built, owned and operated Wilson's Dairy for 9 years. He operated
Pomona Grocery Store. He organized and established the family business of Heart to Heart Home Plus of Pomona. He enjoyed carpenter work and completed several remodeling projects including building the family home at The Wilson Farm in Pomona. He also owned JR's Hitchin' Post Opry in Quenemo for 9 years. He loved country music and enjoyed singing with his band alongside his wife, Jane.
He had many interests and hobbies and loved sports, but nothing compared to his love for God, his wife Jane, his family and friends.
JR is survived by his wife Jane, their 11 children and their families: Brian (Laney), Kelli, Kim (Wayne), Larry (Tresha), Chad (Sam), Vickie (Garrett), Scott (Tammy), Nick (Wendy), Dustin (Brenda), Jessica (Robert) and Chris;
24 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Also his 4 sisters, Phyllis from Oklahoma, Mary Lou, Ruby and Judy (Willis) all from Ottawa, and 2 brothers, Eldon (Sandy) from Ottawa and Mike (Tamera) from Garnett. And many nieces and nephews.
JR is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, 3 brothers (Loren, Robert and Gary), and one sister Roberta. Also a grandson, Riley Wilson and several nephews and brother-in-laws.
JR was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He will remain in the hearts and minds of his loving family and friends forever
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Tuesday July 26, 2022 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa. Family will greet friends for a visitation prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family through lamb-roberts.com.
