Raymond "Ray" Mason Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Wayne Mason, 86, of Williamsburg, KS, died December 23, 2025 in Williamsburg, Kansas.

He was born February 21, 1939, in Moffett, Oklahoma, the son of Raymond P. Mason and Grace V. (Staab) Mason. Raymond graduated from Van Buren High School in Van Buren, Arkansas. He would go on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Emporia State University.

On August 21, 1987, Raymond was united in marriage to Jeanne Dagenette in Central City, Colorado. The couple would share over 38 loving years together. They moved from Emporia to Williamsburg in 2002.

Raymond was career military and served in the US Army from 1959 to 1980 and took great pride in serving his country.  His years of service included two tours in Vietnam during which he received a Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star with V Device along with several other medals.  He was E-8 promotable to Sergeant Major at the time of his retirement.

After his retirement from active duty, Raymond took great pride in owning and operating Donegal Ranch Quarter Horses in Williamsburg, KS.  

Raymond was a member of the Assembly of God in Dora, AR, as well as a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. In his free time, he enjoyed parachuting, golfing, singing and strumming the guitar, and spending time with his buds. 

Most of all, Raymond loved his ranch and his family. He will be best remembered for his caring heart and unrelenting determination, perseverance, and drive for excellence in all he did, earning the loyal friendship, respect and admiration of those that got to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond P. Mason and Grace V. (Staab) Mason; two brothers, Donald Mason and Bobby Mason; and one sister, Patsy Clemmons.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Jeanne Dagenette of Williamsburg, KS; two sons, David Mason of Indian Harbour Beach, FL and Joel Mason of Columbia, SC; and one granddaughter, Natalie Mason of Omaha, NE.
