Richard D. Morris, 86, of Baldwin City, KS passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at his home. He was born July 20, 1936 in Otoe, NE the son of Leonard R. and Lois May (Burgess) Morris. He grew up and attended school in Ava, Missouri.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn Wooldridge on July 21, 1956 in Mountain Grove, MO. They shared over sixty-six years of marriage. They moved to Baldwin City, KS in 1995 where they have resided since.
Richard began work at the family saw mill in Missouri and later did farm work. In 1960, he worked on bridges in Utica, Nebraska. In 1965, he began his life-long career as a Welder for Hesse in Kansas City, MO; Ashton Richards in Buckner, MO; and Brown Cargo Van in Lawrence, KS He retired from that career 2009.
When the family was growing up he loved taking them on summer vacations to get out and see the States After his retirement he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and collecting coins. He will be remembered for his easy going personality and a willingness to help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lois Morris; a son, David Morris; two brothers, Charles and Donny Morris; a sister, Karen Fullington; a granddaughter, Melody Yurchak; and a great-grandson, Erick Darr, Daughter-in-law Lynda Morris
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Morris of the home; Connie (Howard) Darr Pomona, KS, three sons, Alan Morris Ottawa, KS, Del Morris Baldwin City, KS and Roger Morris Baldwin City, KS; a daughter, Ladina (Allen) Miller Edgerton, KS; a sister, Marilyn Medlock of Idaho; a daughter-in-law, Julia Morris Tightwad, MO; seventeen grandchildren; and thirty-two great-grandchildren and Nine great-great grandchildren
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 712 9th Street, Baldwin City, KS 66006. Graveside services and Interment will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Willow Springs, MO.
