Richard J. Sage, 86, of Burlingame, Kansas died Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Osage Nursing Center in Osage City, Kansas.
He was born April 3, 1938 in Burlingame, KS the son of Riley and Maxine (Montgomery) Sage. In his youth, Richard worked at Oliver Grocery Store in Burlingame. He graduated from Burlingame High School with the class of 1956.
On May 26, 1978, Richard was united in marriage to Donelda Clink in Topeka, Kansas. He inherited two daughters, from the marriage, Anje and Edie and took them as his own. Then later they had a son Eric.
Richard was a lifelong Burlingame farmer and a member of the Farm Bureau Board. He was also a DeKalb dealer. Richard was an active member of the community and was always trying to better Burlingame.
A great family man, Richard loved and cared for his entire family. He enjoyed babysitting the grandkids, and he was every kid’s favorite. Going to grandpa’s house was a treat, and the family would enjoy their time around a bonfire or driving the tractors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Maxine Sage; a sister, Helen Smith and her husband, Dan; and three grandsons, Jonathan Anstaett, David Anstaett, and Ethan Sage.
He is survived by his wife, Donelda Sage and a son, Eric Sage and his wife, Crystal, of the home; two daughters, Anje Anstaett and her husband, Randy, of Olathe, KS and Edie Higgins and her husband, Jerry, of Chester, VA; a sister, Doris Bremer and her husband, Gary, of Topeka, KS; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the Federated Church of Burlingame, Burlingame, KS. To celebrate Richard’s life, a visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2025 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Ave, Burlingame, KS 66413.
