Richard Stahl Obituary

Richard Todd Stahl, 61, of Iola, Kansas died Monday, June 15, 2026 in Gas, Kansas.

He was born July 10, 1964 in Garnett, Kansas the son of John Richard Stahl and Bernice Marie (Welsh) Decker.  He graduated from Garnett High School with the class of 1983. 

On July 14, 2023, Richard was united in marriage to Jill Ramsey.

Richard began working as a butcher at S&W Grocery in Garnett, KS, which was later owned by his parents. Then, for over 35 years, he owned and operated Richard’s Painting and Handyman. His most well known project was the underground military bunker in Colorado known as Cheyenne Mountain which he painted in 1992.

Richard was a true outdoorsman. In December 1992, he shot the #3 in the world non-typical whitetail deer by archery, which scored 246 & 3/8th and has 25 points. It is still displayed in the Archery Hall of Fame in Springfield, Missouri and is still #6 in the state of Kansas. He also loved skiing, riding his mules, riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing, or any other activity that could keep him outside and happy. He loved his animals, including the mules he had while he was younger, Destiny and Cherokee, and lived most of his life with a dog by his side. He also enjoyed travelling and seeing the world. Richard was a generous man, which included spending his time pastoring youth in Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Richard Stahl, and his brother, Russell Stahl.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Ramsey of the home; two daughters, Brittney Ramsey and her husband, Charles Hanes, of Bronson, KS and Tiffany Drossler; two sons, Ethan Stahl and Levi Ramsey; six grandchildren, Desmond, Aesha, Octavious, Elijah, Kiana, and Kyon; and his mother, Bernice Decker.
