Ricky Norman Chambers

Ricky Norman Chambers, 76, of Baldwin City, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, surrounded by the memories of a life well lived and the love of family and friends.

Rick was born on September 20, 1949, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Norman Dean Chambers and Norma Charlotte (Miller) Chambers. He was raised in Baldwin City and graduated from Baldwin High School with the Class of 1968. Following graduation, he continued his education at Butler County Community College, where he earned an Associate's Degree.

On June 7, 1969, Rick married Barbara Jean Hutchinson in Baldwin City, Kansas. They raised their family in Baldwin City before moving to Red Oak, Texas, in 1982, where they lived together until 1998. Rick later made his home in Reno, Nevada, for twenty years before returning to Baldwin City, where he enjoyed spending time with family and reconnecting with old friends.

Rick proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973. During his military service, he was stationed in Germany, an experience he often reflected upon with pride and appreciation. His years in the Army helped shape the strong work ethic, loyalty, and resilience that became hallmarks of his character throughout his life.

Following his military service, Rick enjoyed a successful career in the printing industry, serving as a Bindery Manager for Lehigh Color Press. He was respected by colleagues for his leadership, dedication, and commitment to excellence.

Outside of work, Rick embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, activities that brought him both peace and adventure. He was a devoted supporter of the Kansas Jayhawks basketball program and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs. Whether watching a game with friends or discussing the latest season, his passion for his teams was unmistakable.

Rick also had a deep appreciation for live music and enjoyed attending concerts whenever he could. He proudly considered himself a "groupie" of several bands and artists, faithfully following favorites such as Scooter Brown Band, War Hippies, and his favorite performer, Halie O'Ryan. Whether he was outdoors, cheering on his teams, or enjoying a live performance, Rick found joy in sharing those experiences with family and friends.

More than anything, Rick treasured the relationships he built throughout his life. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life and never met a stranger. Known for his honest sense of humor, quick wit, and generous spirit, Rick had a gift for making people laugh and feel welcome. To many, he was more than a friend—he was a confidant, a trusted companion, and often "everyone's best friend." His loyalty, kindness, and ability to bring people together will be remembered by all who knew him.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Norman Chambers; his wife, Barbara Chambers; and his brothers, Ronald Chambers and Bruce Chambers.

He is survived by his sons, Kyle Chambers and wife, Kayce, of Stamford, Texas, and Coy Chambers and wife, Amy, of Arlington, Texas; his mother, Charlotte Chambers, of Baldwin City, Kansas; his brother, Bob Chambers and wife, Cheryl, of Baldwin City, Kansas; his sister, Rhonda Moore and husband, Danny, of Baldwin City, Kansas; six grandchildren, Phillip, Mitchell, Timothy, Blayne, Shyanne, and Emma; step-granddaughter, Kailyn Gleason; step-grandson, Christopher Gleason Jr.; and five great-grandchildren, Macie, Mollie, Stormy, Blake, and Jasper. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Baldwin City Beer Company, 520 High Street, Baldwin City, Kansas 66006.

Rick's legacy lives on through the countless memories he created, the friendships he nurtured, and the family he loved so deeply. He will be greatly missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.
