Bob was born at Westphalia, KS on April 12, 1927. He was lovingly raised by Kirk and Rhoda Bierly. He graduated from Colony High School. Bob served in the US Army at the end of WWII in Korea. Bob received degrees from both Kansas State and Pittsburg State Universities. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Mark Bierly. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Charlene, a son, Kirk C. Bierly, Overbrook, daughter, Lisa ( Mike) Steinert, Wakarusa, daughter-in-law, Heidi Bierly, Hutchinson, and two grandchildren, Maribeth Steinert, Lenexa, and Matt Steinert, Manhattan. Bob was a high school teacher at Robinson, KS and then at Lyons, KS, where he taught for 25 years and was awarded Master Teacher. After retirement in 1989, Bob and Charlene moved back to Charlene's ancestral farm. Working with cattle was a joy for him. Bob enjoyed traveling the United States with Charlene and their 3 young children to all 48 states. Later, they visited the other 2 remaining states and traveled to 19 foreign countries including Russia and Australia. Bob was a supporter of all things purple and the K-States Wildcats and was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. Bob was a member of the Overbrook United Methodist Church, KNEA and NEA.
