Robert Herron Obituary

Robert Lee Herron, 76, of Waverly, KS died Saturday, October 12, 2024 in his home.

Robert was born July 13, 1948 in Memphis, TN the son of Robert Leroy Herron and Iris Vivienne (Edwards) Herron.  He was raised in Tennessee graduating from Haywood County High School with the class of 1968.

Robert was a lifelong worker in the gas station/truck stop industry.  He began his work for Greyhound Food management working at various stops for them.  In 1995 Robert became general manager of the Flying J Truck Stop in Emporia, KS.  He managed the Flying J until 2010, when he retired.

Robert was a collector of many different things.  Over his life he would find a new item that he was fond of and begin collecting.  Eventually his interest would shift and a new item became his passion.  Robert also loved his work.  It took him to various communities and he loved serving the travelers.

On July 23, 1971 Robert was united in marriage to Reginia Kay Sills at Woodland Baptist Church in Haywood, TN.  They shared fifty-three years of marriage.

Robert is survived by his wife, Reginia Herron, Waverly, KS; two sons, Robert Martin Herron and his wife, April, Kansas City, MO, Joseph Bryant Herron and his wife, Sarah, Olathe, KS; and five grandchildren, Jay, Lorien, William, Lily, and Jackson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Rudy Herron.
