Robert “Bob” Lee McCay was born August 11, 1946, in Olathe, Kansas. He was the son of Ernest Calvin McCay and Zella Mae (Heath) McCay. Bob lived in Olathe Kansas before moving to a farm in Wellsville, Kansas in the early 70’s. Bob later moved to a Farm in Williamsburg, Kansas in 1982 where he made his home until his death, March 3, 2025, at the age of 78 years.
He graduated from Stanley High school in 1965. Bob was united in marriage with Sue O’Neill February 1, 1975, at St. Patrick’s Emerald Parish Church. She survives of the home after 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Other survivors include two daughters, Amanda Logan (Grand-cats, Gizmo, Hammy, and Zella) and Jennifer McCay (Brian) and (Grand-dogs, Lucy and Ricki) of Ottawa, Kansas; Mother-in-law, Louise “Weezie” O’Neill of Williamsburg, Kansas; Sister-in-law, Judy Broyles (Max) of Williamsburg, Kansas; niece Heather Broyles of Shawnee, Kansas; and nephew Brandon Broyles (Abby) of Lawrence, Kansas, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Calvin McCay, Mother Zella Mae McCay and Sister Kathleen Belcher.
Bob farmed and raised cattle for many years. He was later a Janitor at Williamsburg Schools, and Sacred Heart School in Ottawa. He also delivered the Ottawa Herald to rural communities and delivered meals on wheels to the elderly.
Bob was a member of St. Patrick’s Emerald Parish Church.
Bob will be remembered as a kind and caring man, with a great sense of humor, who loved, supported and cared for his family throughout his life. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, his grand-dogs, and grand-cats. He enjoyed being outdoors, mowing, fishing, and pheasant hunting. He also enjoyed buying, restoring, and selling antique cars, trucks and anything to tinker on to get working again. He especially loved Corvettes. He loved watching the Chiefs, Royals and KU Basketball with Sue.
Bob was loved by many and will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
A Funeral Mass will be said 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Patrick’s Emerald Parish Church, 33721 NW Crawford Rd., Williamsburg, KS 66095. To celebrate Bob’s life, a visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa, Thursday, March 6, 2025.
