Robert Waldo

Robert Michael Waldo, 69, of Kansas City, KS died Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.

He was born June 1, 1952 in Ottawa, KS the son of Donald Robert Waldo and Jeraldine Ann (Hobson) Waldo.  He grew up in the Ottawa and then Desoto area, graduating from Desoto High School with the Class of 1970

On May 29, 1971, Robert was united in marriage to Eva Elaine Jenkins in Desoto, KS.  They shared forty-nine years of love together.

Robert was a plumber and a glass installation technician early in his work life.  He then began working for Westlake Hardware in Kansas City as a short haul truck driver, working there for over 30 years until his retirement.

Robert was a home body.  He loved to be home and read a Louis L’Amour book while enjoying a good home cooked food his wife Eva was always quick to make.  Robert didn’t always get his way however, if Eva wanted to take a trip she was always able to get Robert out and on the road.  He was a shade tree mechanic who loved Ford cars and treated bailing wire like it was a tool.  He was also well known in his family for always finding a deal on two tires but never four.  He never saw something that he didn’t think had a use for, he a spent many hours stripping machines of the wire and making a good profit out of it.  Robert never turned down a good meal but he really was always happy with a bag of Potato Chips or popcorn.

He is survived by three sons, Roger Waldo, Olathe, KS, Donny Waldo, Kansas City, KS, Billy Waldo, Lenexa, KS; two sisters, Janet Nalley, Desoto, KS, Jeannie Waldo, Desoto, KS; a brother, Kevin Waldo, San Diego, CA; eleven grandchildren, Elaine Diaz, Cameron Waldo, Lauren Waldo, Jenna Waldo, Olivia Waldo, Peyton Waldo, Taylor Waldo, Christian Waldo, Dustin Frazee, Caitlin McKnight, and Ashtin McGonigal; and five great grandchildren, Cesar, Jherson, and Oliver Diaz & Zoey and Caliana McKnight.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Waldo and his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2021 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Baldwin City, KS.  Burial will follow at Sutton Cemetery, Baldwin City, KS.  The family will meet with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
