Obituary

Roger D. Love Jr, 60, of Burlingame, KS passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 at University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus, Topeka, KS.

He was born January 15, 1961 in Wichita, KS the son of Roger D. Love, Sr and Barbara Ann (Duncan) Love.  He grew up in the Burlingame, KS area, graduating from Burlingame High School with the class of 1979.  He went on to college at Coffeyville Community College on a track scholarship.

Roger joined the Army National Guard in 1985 as a helicopter mechanic. He then became a Crew chief, Tech Inspector, Radio/Computer Repairer, and Computer Specialist. Roger has since retired as Sergeant Major Love.

He has a Federal Aviation Administration Airframe & Power plant license. He was a lifelong member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Rogers’s favorite activities were being outdoors in the woods, even if that meant working, but truly loved hunting and fishing. Roger has hunted in Colorado, Montana, and Canada; getting a 6x5 bull elk in Montana with a rifle and a black bear in Canada with a bow and arrow.

If he wasn’t hunting, he was always talking hunting with his son and friends. He also loved being papa Roger; playing, tickling, and picking on his granddaughters. Roger was a man of his word and was always there at the drop of a hat to help his children and friends. He had a huge heart and wore it on his sleeve, but always stood up for what he believed was right. His favorite quote was “Choices and Consequences” that his kids live by daily.

Roger leaves behind a daughter Shelby Succi and her husband, Joseph; two granddaughters, Finlee and Charlie Succi; and a son, David Love, as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
