Rose Marie Heinlein, 70, of Ottawa, KS died Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Advent Health Hospital in Ottawa, KS.
She was born September 26, 1950 in Chanute, KS the daughter of Raymond and Geraldine (Stone) Wolken. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1968.
Rose was united in marriage to Alan Lee Heinlein on August 22, 1969 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa. They shared 42 years of happy marriage until his passing on August 18, 2012.
Rose received her cosmetology license in 1968 and worked as a cosmetologist until she switched careers and began working as a nurse. In 1993, she earned her Associate’s Degree in nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She worked at Ransom Memorial Hospital and then Rock Creek Retirement Community until she retired in 2020.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Heinlein; her parents, Raymond and Geraldine Wolken; a sister, Sherry Wolken; and two brothers, J.D. and Raymond Wolken.
She is survived by a son, Benjamin Heinlein of Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Michelle Heinlein of Ottawa, KS; three brothers, Steve, Mike, and Pete Wolken of Ottawa, KS; and nieces and nephews.
Rose loved to spend her free time with family and pets and connecting with people. She enjoyed living life through live entertainment and music, fine dining, and rides through the countryside. Her hobbies included crotchet, sewing, and reading.
To celebrate Rose’s life, a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS. A visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home.
