Ruben Moncayo

Ruben G. Moncayo, 85, of Ottawa, KS passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Richmond Healthcare and Rehab, Richmond, KS.

He was born July 9, 1937 in San Antonio, TX the son of Juan and Elvira (Gillette) Moncayo.  He attended schools and graduated from high school in San Antonio, TX.

Ruben served our country in the United States Army. 

He shared over fifty years of marriage with Rita Singleterry before her passing on February 17, 2023.              

Ruben was a long-haul truck driver and also installed tile.    

He enjoyed collecting light houses and bluebirds of happiness. He also enjoyed golfing and especially spending time with his daughter, Amy.

Mr. Moncayo was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Elvira Moncayo; his wife, Rita; three sisters, Elvira Rodriguez, Irene Gonzales and Rose Marie Cantu; and a brother, Henry Moncayo.

Surviving family includes a daughter, Amy Singleterry of Ottawa, KS; two brothers, Mario Moncayo and his wife, Rosalva of Alamo, TX and Juan Moncayo and his wife, Blanca of San Antonio, TX; three sisters, Anna Castro and her husband, Joe of Atlanta, GA, Irma Martinez of Austin, TX and Sylvia Hammond of Iowa; five grandchildren, Faith, Dayton, Destiny, Michael and Asia; and one great-grandson, Miguel.
