Rudy Lynn Wilson, 69, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2025 while in hospice care in Palm Harbor, Florida. Rudy was born October 22, 1955 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of John C. and Dorothy Y. Wilson. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1973 and attended Ottawa University.
He later moved to Topeka, Kansas and worked a variety of jobs, including Goodyear Tire, Benchmark Protective Services, Mid-America Aviation, and Bank of America.
On January 1, 1993 in Topeka, Kansas, Rudy was united in marriage to Cynthia (Brooks) Wilt. They shared over thirty-two years of marriage and many happy memories.
Rudy had a passion for the martial arts, where he achieved black belt status. He was an excellent bowler, played in league, traveling throughout the country for tournaments, and proudly earned a perfect 300 score in tournament play. He always had music in his life; he was a drummer in his school years, and learned later in life to play the saxophone and bass guitar. His love of aviation led him to attend Comair Aviation Academy in Sanford, Florida, where he obtained his lifetime goal with a commercial pilot’s license in 2001. He continued to reside in Florida and finished his working career at City Beverages in Orlando. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Dunedin, Florida.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Wilson of Dunedin, FL; brother, John C. Wilson, Jr. and wife, Susan of Olathe, KS; sister, Julie Wilson and partner, Mark Hughes of Largo, FL; brother, Timothy Wilson of Lawrence, KS; stepdaughter, Jennifer Lavoie of Quebec City, Quebec; stepson, Ryan Wilt of Phoenix, AZ; two nephews, Dorian and Jeremy; niece, Megan; two great nieces; two great nephews; and three step grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2025 at the Highland Cemetery, 1050 E. 15th Street, Ottawa, KS 66067.
