Sandra Lynette (Ballard) Laubsch, 81, of Kansas City, KS passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Baldwin City, Kansas, with her family at her side.
She was born August 22, 1941 in Amarillo, Texas the daughter of Charles Henry Ballard and Margaret Marcel (Moss) Ballard. She graduated from Palo Duro High School with the class of 1959. After high school, she was an extra in the movie Hud with Paul Newman, and had the pleasure of escorting him around Amarillo, as the film was being shot there.
Sandra then moved to California to pursue her dreams of acting, and began working as a paralegal. Shortly after moving to California, she met Robert Laubsch.
On February 14, 1963, Sandra was united in marriage to Robert at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springmont, CA. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
Sandra worked at Robert’s pizza shop, Cugino’s until they moved to Amarillo where she began working as a seamstress for Levi Jeans. They then moved to Kansas City, Kansas settling there in 1974. There, she worked as a mortgage loan officer at Anchor Savings and Loan, Coronado Federal Savings and Loan, and Midland Loan Services.
Sandra had an amazing sense of style and was a talented decorator. She was an avid reader, and well versed on many subjects. She never missed a good clearance sale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret Ballard; two brothers, Johnny Ballard and Bill Ballard; and a sister, Lynda Inguanti.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Laubsch of Lawrence, KS, and Jennifer Mitchell and her husband, Mike, of Lawrence, KS; a son, Fred Laubsch and his wife, Jean, of Overland Park, KS; seven grandchildren, Joshua Laubsch and his wife, Tosha, of Richmond, MO, Lauren Williams and her husband, Byron, of Lawrence, KS, Brittiany Smith and her husband, Matt, of Kansas City, MO, Remington Mitchell of Lawrence, KS, Alicia Robinson of Lawrence, KS, Adriana Cazares of Lawrence, KS, and Rebecca Laubsch of Overland Park, KS; six great-grandchildren, Kai, Mykol, Grayson, Daxton, Ryker, and Bryant; and a brother, Scott Ballard and his wife, Michelle, of Clearwater Beach, FL.
