Sharon Ann Vawter

Sharon Ann Vawter, 82, of Scranton, KS died Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS.  She was born November 2, 1941 in Topeka, KS the daughter of Lewis and Margaret (Kelch) Wilson. 

She married Tom Harris and they later divorced. From this union four children were born, James, Cynthia Leigh, Paul and Shaun.

Sharon married Jim Vawter on August 5, 1988 in Scranton, KS.  They shared nearly thirty-six years of marriage.

Sharon worked at Casey's in Scranton for 20 years.  The last 16 years as Store Manager before retiring. She worked in Retail Sales her whole working career.  

She was a member of the Lions Club in Scranton, KS.  Sharon was an avid reader who enjoyed Romance and Mystery Novels.  She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making bead jewelry and bookmarks. Sharon will be remembered for her giving and caring personality.

Mrs. Vawter was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Margaret Wilson; two sisters, Dorothy Rucker and Lois Wagner; her daughter, Cynthia Leigh Harris; granddaughter Cythia Marie Harris and a great-granddaughter, Kapri Lane Bradley. 

Surviving family includes her husband, Jim Vawter of the home; three sons, James “Jim” Harris of Carbondale, KS, Paul Harris and Shaun Harris of Berryton, KS; and a step-daughter, Loree Brooks of Burlingame, KS; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Cross Road Community Church, 512 Mason Street, Scranton, KS 66537.  Interment will follow at the West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka, KS.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Avenue, Burlingame, KS 66413. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scranton Lions Club or St. Jude Children’s Hospital and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
