Shawn Preston

Shawn Michael Preston, age 38, of Allen, KS formerly of Ottawa, KS passed away December 11, 2019, at Highway 376 in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. He was born July 20, 1981 in Denver, CO, the son of Douglas Leo Smith and Dawn Mason. Shawn grew up in Kansas, attending Ottawa High School, Ottawa, KS. He lived most of the rest of his life in the eastern Kansas area. Shawn was a Boilermaker for International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron shipbuilders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and helpers of Local Union # 83 and had worked for the Union for over 20 years. Shawn was a proud Boilermaker. He loved his job and he loved his brothers and sisters in the union who he worked with over his years of service. He loved vintage cars and he was a big Harley motorcycle and Ducati motorcycle fan. Shawn lived his life to the fullest. He never wasted a moment. He was always out to help others and never ask questions just helped. He had a connection to animals, especially his dogs, snakes, and turtles. He would even pull to the side of the road and rescue turtles that were crossing. He loved to cook and was always with a cup of coffee. Most important and dear to Shawn was his family. He loved them dearly but especially Shawn loved his children. He lived every day for them, loving them and just proud to be their father. In 2003 Shawn was united in marriage to Sarah Clifton. They later divorced. Shawn is survived by his four children, Blade Riffle, West Virginia, Araydia Preston, Burlingame, KS, Alexander Preston, Burlingame, KS, Saegan Preston, Burlingame, KS; mother, Dawn Mason, Allen, KS, father, Douglas Smith, Lansing, KS; partner in life, Tessa Leann Borjon, Allen, KS; two sisters, Shelly Feebeck, Topeka, KS, Sonya Patton, Osawatomie, KS; step mother, Teresa Patton, Osawatomie, KS; step brother, Marc Paul, Wellsville, KS; and a step daughter, Brook McCawley, Allen, KS. He is preceded in death by a brother, Kirby Smith; grandparents, Ray and flora Smith; and his beloved dog, Sarge. A celebration of Shawn's life will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2019 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
