Silas James Watkins, 3, of Princeton, KS died Monday, March 22, 2021 at his home after a six month battle with cancer.
He was born September 16, 2017 in Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa, Kansas the son of Nicholas Watkins and Allison (Reed) Watkins.
In his short three years Silas showed a true warrior spirit. He brought out the best in people in this community. Silas was a deep thinker and many times understood way more about life and medical procedures than a three year old ever does. Even in the midst of a Covid epidemic he carried on loving and enjoying his family. Despite horrendous battles no three year old should have to face he looked forward.....Forward to his robotic leg, seeing his sisters, watching Paw Patrol, riding a four-wheeler and visiting the farm. At 3 we're not sure if he truly understood what looking forward to heaven really meant, but we do know he was ready to go "home" to go from the loving arms of his mom and dad to the ever loving arms of Jesus.
Silas's smile leaves an everlasting memory of his spirit. He taught us to cherish all the moments ... to slow down and never take things for granted. His words to his loved parents and grandparents were “I will miss you" ....But Super Silas, we will miss you more. And we will see you again.
He is survived by his parents, Nicholas and Allison Watkins, Princeton, KS; four sisters, Aubrey Watkins, Kaitlyn Watkins, Hailey Watkins, Addalyn Watkins, all of the home; maternal grandparents, Louis and Linda Reed, Pomona, KS; paternal grandfather, Steve Watkins; paternal grandmother, Barbara Watkins and Gene Gehlen, Garnett, KS; and two paternal great grandmothers, Colleen Watkins, Overland Park, KS, Audrey Maley, Bronson, KS; and several uncles and aunts.
