Stephen Patrick Lewis, 55, of Ottawa, Kansas died Tuesday, October 21, 2025 in his home.
He was born July 28, 1970 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of Tom B. Lewis and Alice Joy (Mackish) Lewis. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1988. While in high school, Stephen was involved in drama and theatre and then continued his education at Ottawa University studying set design.
On November 9, 2005, Stephen was united in marriage to Mary Schiller in Ottawa, Kansas.
Stephen began working as a security guard for Informex. He then worked for Universal Sign and Display installing lights and canopies for truck stops.
Early in life, Stephen played cello. He was a creative person who especially enjoyed woodworking and drawing. He was known for his favorite saying, “cool beans”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Alice Joy Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lewis of the home; a daughter, Ellen Emry and her husband, Nick Barnes, of Springfield, MO; a step-daughter, Tasha McMahon and her husband, Jason, of Dryden, Ontario, Canada; a brother, Brian Lewis and daughter Isabella of Austin, TX; a sister, Beth Lewis and her husband, Jerry, of Ottawa, KS; and a nephew, Christian Lewis and girlfriend Haley Farmer.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2025 at First Baptist Church, Ottawa, KS. To celebrate Stephen’s life, a visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory St, Ottawa, KS 66067.
