Stephen Albert Swaim

Stephen Albert Swaim, 77, of Ottawa, KS died Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Advena Living, Topeka, KS.

He was born December 7, 1947 in Springfield, MO the son of Melvin and Jessie Swaim.  He grew up in Tulsa, OK graduating from high school there.  He later attended Kansas University.

Stephen was a Maintenance worker for the U.S. Postal service in Shawnee Mission, KS for many years.

He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United State Army.

On March 17, 1969, Stephen was united in marriage to Stella Kathrn Rea.  They shared fifty-four years of marriage until the death of Kathy in 2023.

Stephen was also preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Jessie Swaim; a son, John Andrew Harris; and a sister, Leslie Guthrey.

Stephen is survived by a daughter, Shelly Lynn Swaim of Ottawa KS; a son, Shawn Patrick Swaim of Ottawa, KS; two brother-in-law, Gary Rea of Homewood, KS, and Steve Rea of Williamsburg, KS;  4 grandchildren, Ruby Ann Swaim of Ottawa, KS, Joseph Rea Swaim of Pomona, KS, Stacey Anderson of Ottawa, KS, Trina Renee Swaim of Osage City, KS; 3 great-grandchildren, Memphis Kye Raymond, Michael Dean Raymond III and Brenleigh Goodwin of Osage City, KS; 2 god-great-grandchildren, Paislee and Izabella of Ottawa, KS; and a brother-in-law, Charles Guthery of Oklahoma.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday August 22, 2025 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa, KS. Interment will occur after at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, KS.  The family will greet friends for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21 at the funeral home.  Memorial Contributions to the Vietnam Veterans Association of Franklin County c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
