Steven T Lawson

Steven T. Lawson, 30, of Greenwood, MO passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at his home.  He was born October 11, 1991 in Topeka, KS the son of Dustin and Paula Mitchell.  He grew up and attended schools in Ottawa, KS. 

Steven worked for Duvall Landscape & Design in Ottawa, KS.  His love for driving big trucks began with driving a Dump Truck here in Kansas City.  In 2020, he created and was the Owner and Operator of Silver Back Logistics Trucking Company.  He loved driving his Freightliner Classic XL eighteen-wheeler, with a maroon exterior and a custom neon green interior dashboard. 

Steven was a very outgoing, energetic and family oriented Man.  He loved traveling across America with his family, sometimes for work and sometimes for fun.  He especially enjoyed going to Lake Havasu, AZ.  He will be remembered for driving around Greenwood, MO in his golf cart, also known as the “Party Cart” and his love for Harley motorcycles.

Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Roy and Helen Ward; and an aunt, Gaylene Mitchell.

Steven is survived by two sons, Drew Lawson and Ace Vandenburgh of the home; his mother, Paula Mitchell and her husband, Dustin of Ottawa, KS; a sister, Brittney Walker and her husband, Jason of Ottawa, KS; two brothers, Nicholas Devaul and wife, Mandie of Ottawa, KS and Christopher Schumann of Macon, MO; maternal grandparents, Robert and Pam Been of Topeka, KS; seven nieces and nephews, RJ, Brady, Madison, Alexis, Autumn, Braxton and Harper; two dogs, Brady and Lucy; and two cats, Chicken and Daisy.    

To celebrate Steven’s life, funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067. Interment will follow at Sutton Cemetery, Baldwin City, KS. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2022 at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Steven Lawson Memorial Fund and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
