Steven Bradley Pfeiffer, age 55 of Wellsville, KS passed away October 27, 2023 in rural Franklin County, KS.

Steven was born May 9, 1968 at Merriam, KS, the son of Bruce Pfeiffer and Sharon Kay (Reeves) Pfeiffer. Steven grew up in the Shawnee Mission area graduating from Shawnee Mission West with the class of 1986.  He also attended Johnson County Community College and later graduated from Baker University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and in 2021 earning his Masters of Business Administration.

In his earlier years, Steven worked at K.C. Bobcat as a Field Service Technician and then in construction equipment sales.  In 2011, he began working as the Athletic Fields Coordinator for Baker University in Baldwin City, KS and in 2018 he became a Water Maintenance Technician and Relief Water Operator for the City of Ottawa Water Department.

Steven had a passion for firefighting. He was a member of the Kansas State Firefighters Association, National Volunteer Fire Council and was a past volunteer for the Baldwin City Fire Department, currently serving as a volunteer for the City of Ottawa Fire Department and the Lincoln Ottawa Harrison Township Fire Department.  He loved the comradery of his fellow firefighters and the bravery and heroism each of them displayed when they were called into action.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, NASCAR racing, all of his dogs, college football, and working on cars.  He also enjoyed farming with his friend, Robin.

On April 21, 1990, Steven was united in marriage to Valerie White in Chanute, KS. She survives.

In addition to Valerie, Steven is survived by daughter, MacKenzie Pfeiffer and her husband Adam Shirley; his parents, Bruce and Kay Pfeiffer; a brother, Jeff Pfeiffer (Diane); his father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Jeannene White; his sister-in-law Stephanie Rasmussen (Neil); his brother-in-law Monte White (Maura) and his niece and nephews.

A Celebration of Steven's Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa, KS.  The family will greet friends for a visitation following the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to NVFC Share the Load sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS, 66067. The National Volunteer Fire Council’s Share the Load program provides access to critical resources and information to help first responders and their families manage and overcome personal and work-related problems.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through www.lamb-roberts.com.
