Susan Juanita Flanner, 68, of Wellsville, KS, died January 9, 2023 at University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.
She was born July 22, 1954 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Leslie Earl Richardson and Marjorie Juanita (Macoubrie) Richardson. She grew up in the Kansas City metro area graduating from Washington High School, Kansas City, KS with the class of 1972.
On October 7 1972, Susan was united in marriage to Merle Flanner at Town & Country Church of Christ, Ottawa, KS. They shared twenty-four years of marriage until Merle’s death in 1996.
Susan began working for King Radio in Ottawa, KS eventually moving with the company through the years as they eventually became Honeywell in Olathe, KS as a quality control technician, retiring in 2020.
She loved animals and often planned her vacations around visiting the various zoos around the country. If her vacation wasn’t planned around a zoo then it was planned around a church camp or revival. Susan was very active in the Town & Country Church of Christ in Ottawa. She had a strong faith and was faith to her church and her savior. Susan was also an avid K.U. fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Merle Flanner and her father, Leslie Richardson; and her step father, Arthur Obermeier.
She is survived by her mother, Marjorie Obermeier, Shawnee, KS; brother, David Richardson and his wife, Sue, Shawnee, KS as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that she was very close to.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday January 20, 2023 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Miami County, KS. The family will receive friends for a visitation Friday at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
