Violet Denny Obituary

Violet M. Denny, age 76, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 7th, 2022.

On April 9th, 1945, Violet was born in Denver, Colorado, to Paul H. and Margaret E. Diltz.

Violet married Charles O. Denny on January 6th, 1962, in Aurora, Colorado. To this union, six children were born Steven, Christopher, Gary, Shawn, Shay, and Malinda.

She was a daycare provider for over 20 years, establishing solid relationships with every child, many of which remain intact today. She began working at King Soopers Grocery Store in Aurora, Colorado, as a courtesy clerk until she retired in 2014. Through the years after her retirement, many of the patrons and co-workers would gravitate to her whenever she entered the store to share memories, update her on their personal lives, and express how much they appreciated her years of service and friendship.

Violet’s greatest joy was her family and her one and only love, Charles Denny. Violet loved all animals, and many over the years held special places in her heart. She enjoyed roller skating, crafts, gardening, flowers, hosting gatherings, and visiting each day with her children. She was supportive of her husband’s aircraft painting career and enjoyed traveling to Lake McConaughy, NE.

Violet is survived by her Husband: Charles Denny; Children: Sons, Steven Denny and wife Deborah of Severance, CO. Christopher Denny and wife Valerie of Aurora, CO. Gary Denny and wife Kristine of Rangely, CO. Shawn Denny and wife Nicci of Garnett, KS; Daughters, Shay Denny, and boyfriend Christopher Griffith of Aurora, CO, and Malinda Licknosky and husband Matthew of Thornton, CO; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will arrange funeral services for a later date in Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
