Virginia Ruth Giffin

Virginia Ruth Giffin, 87, of Pomona, Kansas passed away March 12, 2015 at her home. Virginia was born in Clovis, New Mexico on October 16, 1927, the daughter of John L. Lewis and Vera (Wilson) Lewis. In the 9th grade she moved with her family to Wichita, Kansas and in 1945 graduated from Wichita North High School. From 1958 to 1989 Virginia lived in Colorado in the communities of Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins, moving to Pomona in 1989. Virginia worked early in her life for Frito-Lay but she also worked a number of years for LyonsChevrolet in Boulder and later for the Chevrolet dealer in Fort Collins as a title clerk. In 1979 she began her favorite job working with her son in his Antique store primarily as a furniture refinisher. She traveled the country looking for new pieces and sell her furniture. This profession was as mush a passion as a job. She loved hunting for great buys and spending time bringing old items back to life. She was an avid Horse owner during her lifetime. Easy and Shiloh were very dear parts of her life. She also loved her dogs that spent many road trips with her in her travels in the Antique profession. She always enjoyed the outdoors and especially the mountains in Colorado. Family was her favorite though. She was a loving mother and devoted wife. Virginia was united in marriage with Milford Stanley "Stan" Giffin on January 1, 1945 in Eureka Springs, Ark. They shared seventy years together. Stan survives. Virginia is also survived by two sons, "Rick" Richard Lynn Giffin and his wife, Pamela, of Arboles, Colorado, Kim Allen Giffin and his wife, Elizabeth, of Pomona; six grandchildren, Michael Shawn Giffin, Murietta, California, Morning Brook Westebrook, South Park, Colorado, Marisa Emerald Giffin, Wichita, Kansas, Amanda Sue Reed, Honolulu, Hawaii, Alissa Smith, Pomona, Kansas, Megan Giffin, Topeka, Kansas; and six Great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Norma Kerns and Cousin Robbie Wilson. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona.
