Wanda Jane (Currant) Whitt

Wanda Jane Whitt, 55, of Ottawa, KS passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Advent Health in Ottawa, KS. She was born March 26, 1966 in Ottawa, KS the daughter of Elvin and Jane (Elder) Currant.  She grew up and attended schools in Ottawa, graduating from Ottawa High School with the Class of 1985.  While at OHS she enjoyed performing with the Flag Team. Wanda earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. 

Wanda was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Wellsville Manor in Wellsville, KS and later for the Ottawa Retirement Village in Ottawa, KS retiring in 2009. 

She married David Lee Whitt in September of 1989, they later divorced. 

Wanda was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa, KS where she sang in the Choir. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and spending time outside. Wanda especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her cats.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elvin Currant; ex-husband, David Whitt and step-son, Eric Whitt.  

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Gragg and her husband Brian of Ottawa, KS; son, Bryan Whitt and his wife, Sarah of Baldwin City, KS; daughter, Annette Huffman of Ottawa, KS; step-daughter, Courtney Whitt of Lawrence, KS; her mother, Jane Currant of Ottawa, KS; a sister, Connie Currant of Ottawa, KS; a brother, Michael Currant of Ottawa, KS; four grandchildren, Kaleb and Destiny Whitt and Tyler and Anastasia Gragg; and her cat, Itzzy.

Cremation is planned and a Celebration of Wanda’s life will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
