William Donald Petersen Jr.

William “Bill” Donald Petersen, Jr., 61, of Pomona, Kansas died Sunday, June 21, 2020 at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Bill was born September 11, 1958 in Smithville, MO, the son of William Donald Petersen, Sr. and Verda Belle (Maley) Petersen.  He moved to Pomona in 1986 from Kansas City, KS.

He worked in the construction industry for over 44 years.  He truly loved his work.  He was a building engineer for MC Lioness Realty.  Bill was a member of Pomona Assembly of God church.

Bill was united in marriage to Donna Hall in 1979 in Kansas City, KS.  They shared over 40 years of loving marriage.  She survives of the home.

He is also survived by two daughters, Angel Bowman and her husband, Kevin, Pomona, KS, and Joy Duncan, Pomona, KS; four grandchildren, Owen and George Bowman and Hannah and Joshua Duncan; and two sisters, Ardonna Smith and her husband, Mike, Quenemo, KS, and Sherri Gott and her husband, Anthony, Sr., Shawnee, KS.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Petersen III; a sister, Joy Parks; and a brother, Harry Petersen.

Bill was a family man and cherished his grandchildren.  He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, as well as riding four-wheelers.  He had a passion for riding horses.  Bill also loved to watch the K.C. Chiefs play football.

The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Thursday June 25, 2020 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory St., Ottawa, KS.  A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Thursday June 25, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, KS.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
