Zygmunt "Ziggy" Jarczyk Obituary

 

Zygmunt “Ziggy” Jarczyk, 74, of Gardner, Kansas died Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Morningstar Care Homes in Baldwin City, KS.

He was born September 1, 1947 in Solingen, Germany the son of Joseph and Helena (Wajciak) Jarczyk. In his youth his family moved to the Kansas City, KS area. He graduated from Bishop Ward High School with the class of 1969.  After graduation, he joined the Army and served from 1970 to 1976.  He then attended the University of Missouri earning a political science degree before graduating from the University Of Kansas School Of Law. 

While in college, Ziggy worked for the Santa Fe Railroad.  After graduation, he moved back to Kansas City, KS and began work as a lawyer, starting as a clerk and working his way up to the District Attorney of Wyandotte County in the late 1980’s.  For a short time Ziggy had his own law firm before moving on in life and becoming a car salesman, working at Van Chevrolet, South Town Ford, and Blue Springs Ford until his retirement in 2016.  He retired to Arizona for a few years before returning to Gardner, KS.

In 1986, Ziggy was united in marriage to Marilyn Eubank in Las Vegas, Nevada, with whom he shared 34 years of loving marriage until her passing in April 2020. 

Ziggy was a storyteller and he loved telling jokes.  He was a captivating man who lit up the room, and was always the life of the party.  He was an avid accordion player, earning several awards and playing several events. He begged his mother to buy his first accordion from a travelling salesperson..  A story he loved telling.   Ziggy was a member of the Polish National Alliance. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helena Jarczyk, and his wife, Marilyn Jarczyk.

He is survived by two sons, Zygmunt Alexander Jarczyk of Gardner, KS and Daniel Jonathan Jarczyk of Olathe, KS; a daughter, Christine Elizabeth Sloan of Shawnee, KS; his ex-wife, Deborah Sue Jarczyk of Shawnee, KS; and 8 grandchildren, Daxton, Adelynn, Emryk, Eiley, Casey, Kayla, Kealey, and Kaz.
